Lighting the Lamp of Prosperity, Health and Happiness
This couple were great friends of mine.
I had arranged their marriage in Sri Lanka and to Honeymoon in the Maldives, I was their bridesmaid!

They left in a very ancient AUSTIN. At the back I had attached loads of colourful balloons .They were to be driven for half an hour around the shady lanes. Sadly the ancient Austin kept on stopping, feeling her age! The driver got it to move again!
I was waiting for their return, it was over an hour!

This couple wanted to marry on the beach and then,
take off into the sunset on the back of an elephant! Wildly romantic!

Having done loads of marriages in various hotels in Sri Lanka Quite out of the blue a very kind Sri Lankan friend said to me
" Toni, would you like to borrow my bungalow to use for your marriages! It's about 3 miles south from Galle".

The bungalow is very close to the beach you can hear the waves breaking. A high wall giving total privacy. A very pretty garden with a small stream running through. A very wide veranda all round the bungalow. 3 bedrooms, excellent cook and maid.
A Security man all night. In the garden a raised pergola so perfect for my clients nuptials. The bungalow was big enough for friends and family. It was just perfect and from then on all my weddings were done there.
I knew Sri Lanka very very well, when flying with B.O.A C in the fifties. We would go into Ceylon and would have quite along stop over. We always had a Sri Lankan girl with us from Delhi in her local dress, I was so envious! Later we helped to train the stewardesses who would fly with their own airline. By this time I had the title The Maldive Lady 1982 I was diving in the Maldives,

As I now had this delightful bungalow, I arranged to hire this TIRIKKELES, very much used in the olden days. After the nuptials my couple with difficulty squeezed into the back. I fastened MALDIVE TRAVEL to the rear, with colourful balloons. Off they went, through the pretty small village, children running along grabbing at the balloons! Round to the seafront and home.
Now, you may ask me WHY always Sri Lanka???
Answer: Because NO ONE may Marry in the Maldives, not even today,
but I had something else up my sleeve!

"You May renew your vows"
When running Maldive Travel in my very early days this facility was not available, but later allowed opening up a totally new market.
I got very excited, as did my clients! I would give interested parties a Vows Menu which outlined everything available to them, the cost
and highlighting the Resorts who offered this. Prior to booking anyone, I checked out each Resort. Then Ready. Steady GO!
