My mother was going to have a baby.
My Father could see she was pregnant and this was quite difficult for them as there were no midwives or hospitals. So he put her one of his ships. Her Mother was waiting for her in Durban and I was born! I was put in the bottom of a cupboard.

My mother was in awful pain, I weighed over 9 pounds, She `asked a  close friend if she would take me to be baptised.  Her friend asked her to come with her, so fresh into the world I was baptised "Toni with an I".

In the end my Mum, Dad and I moved away from Zanzibar. My Mother only wanted a BOY.  My Mum had a BOY and I a brother, called Richard.
